The encaustic process features oil paint and beeswax mixed in a heated solution. It is painted on layer by layer. The pigments in the oil paint are protected by the wax so the color remains true. The art of encaustic painting was begun over two thousand years ago in Greece. All my paintings are permanently framed with wood. Some have photographs collaged in them. Some have photo transfers. Some are only encaustic paintings.

The curator at the Springfield Ohio Art Museum volunteered to paint the walls behind the paintings for my show there, and I decided instead to paint an almost life size acrylic painting of a building in Ghana. It is 8’ x 16’, the width of my garage/studio. The edges are fringed with handsewn African recycled glass beads. Price is $2000.
